A Network Centered on the Visual‐Motor Cortex Is Critically Involved in Postural Abnormality in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 156-167, January 2026.
Abstract Background Postural abnormality (PA) is a key motor symptom in Parkinson's disease (PD) that leads to disability and death. However, the pathophysiology underlying PA is still unknown. Objective The objective of this study was to explore the neural patterns behind PAs and measures toward functional restoration using repetitive transcranial ...

Comparison of the effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation on disability and balance in patients with chronic unilateral and bilateral vestibular hypofunction

open access: yesGülhane Tıp Dergisi
Aims: This study evaluated the effectiveness of supervised vestibular rehabilitation on disability and balance by comparing patients with chronic unilateral vestibular hypofunction (UVH) and bilateral vestibular hypofunction (BVH).

Persistent postural‐perceptual dizziness versus vestibular migraine: A narrative review

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 298-306, January 2026.
Abstract Objective This article reviews the differences and similarities between persistent postural‐perceptual dizziness (PPPD) and vestibular migraine. Background PPPD is considered a chronic functional vestibular disorder characterized by persistent dizziness, unsteadiness, nonspinning vertigo, and often exacerbated by upright posture, movement, or ...

Glucocorticoids‐Induced Adrenal Insufficiency With Intractable Vomiting: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT An 80‐year‐old male patient was admitted to our hospital with a one‐year history of recurrent reflux and vomiting, accompanied by mild fatigue and decreased appetite. Despite initial treatment with prokinetic agents, his symptoms showed minimal improvement.

Patients with chronic peripheral vestibular hypofunction compared to healthy subjects exhibit differences in gaze and gait behaviour when walking on stairs and ramps. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The aim of this study was to compare gaze behaviour during stair and ramp walking between patients with chronic peripheral vestibular hypofunction and healthy human subjects.Twenty four (24) patients with chronic peripheral vestibular hypofunction (14 ...

The Effect of Sleep Deprivation on the Vestibulo‐Ocular Reflex and Vestibular Adaptation in Healthcare Night‐Shift Workers

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 9, Page 3364-3370, September 2025.
This study examined the effects of sleep deprivation on the vestibulo‐ocular reflex (VOR) in healthcare night‐shift workers. Results showed a significant reduction in VOR gain (7.5%) during passive head movements toward far targets after a night shift, whereas other VOR functions and gaze stability remained unaffected.

Vestibular Rehabilitation Using Dynamic Posturography: Functional Stability and Fall Risk Outcomes From a Randomized Trial

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 173, Issue 3, Page 713-723, September 2025.
Abstract Objective To compare computerized vestibular retraining therapy (CVRT) to a home exercise program (HEP) for the treatment of unilateral vestibular deficits. Study Design Randomized, unblinded, interventional study with single crossover. Setting This study was performed in a tertiary neurotology clinic.

Real sounds influence postural stability in people with vestibular loss but not in healthy controls.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
ObjectiveWhat we hear may influence postural control, particularly in people with vestibular hypofunction. Would hearing a moving subway destabilize people similarly to seeing the train move?

Modification of Eye–Head Coordination With High Frequency Random Noise Stimulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2020
The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) plays an important role in controlling the gaze at a visual target. Although patients with vestibular hypofunction aim to improve their VOR function, some retain dysfunction for a long time.

Effectiveness of Vestibular Rehabilitation for Patients with Degenerative Cerebellar Ataxia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2023
Many patients with cerebellar ataxia have dizziness caused by oculomotor or peripheral vestibular deficits; however, there is little evidence supporting the use of vestibular rehabilitation for this population.
