Cannabinoid and adenosine A2A receptor crosstalk regulates postnatal and adult hippocampal neurogenesis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 18, Page 5440-5457, September 2026.
Background and purpose Adult neurogenesis is a tightly regulated process affected by both cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) and adenosine 2A (A2A) receptors, both of which modulate neural progenitor cell activity. While emerging evidence suggests an interaction between these neuromodulatory systems, the extent and mechanism of their interplay in ...

Cellular immune response of Amblyomma sculptum and Amblyomma americanum to entomopathogenic fungi: Implications for biological tick control

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 582-594, September 2026.
Amblyomma sculptum showed a plasmatocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana increased plasmatocytes and reduced granulocytes, whereas Metarhizium robertsii did not cause significant changes. Amblyomma americanum showed a granulocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana reduced total haemocytes and granulocytes. B.

The Role of Trace Elements in the Formation of Feline Corneal Sequestra

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the trace element composition of feline corneal sequestra (FCS) and provide insights into their pathophysiology. Methods FCS samples were collected from 11 eyes of 9 cats following keratectomy and compared with corneal samples from four clinically normal control cats euthanized for reasons unrelated to the study ...

Intranasal Administration of Isoeugenol Improves Memory Deficits in APP/PS1 Old Mice—A Role Beyond Nrf2 Activation?

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 15, 15 August 2026.
Inactivation of the Nrf2/Are pathway in AD leads to decreased antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory response and to the accumulation of beta‐amyloid (Aβ) plaques, resulting in cognitive failure. Treatment with Isoeugenol activates Nrf2, reversing these outcomes by promoting antioxidant response in neuronal cells (N2a) and by increasing the anti ...

From armadillos to sloths: Patterns and variations in xenarthran coronary anatomy

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 8, Page 2199-2220, August 2026.
Abstract Species of the superorder Xenarthra play a vital ecological role in the Neotropics. Despite their evolutionary significance, anatomical studies on their coronary circulation remain scarce. This study investigated the coronary anatomy of 82 hearts from nine Xenarthra species across the Dasypodidae, Myrmecophagidae, and Bradypodidae.
