[Chemical components of Vetiveria zizanioides volatiles].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2004The chemical components of the volatiles from Vetiveria zizanioides were analyzed by SPME and GC-MS. In the roots, the main component was valencene (30.36%), while in the shoots and leaves, they were 9-octadecenamide (33.50%), 2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosahexaene (27.46%), and 1,2-benzendicarboxylic acid, diisooctyl ester(18.29%).

Vertical phytoremediation of wastewater using Vetiveria zizanioides L.
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2021In many areas, wastewater feeds water bodies, which leads to it being non-usable for agricultural and other uses. Phytoremediation is a scientific approach which cleans contaminated waters, demanding large areas for application. Vertical agriculture is a new method to compact plant cultures. This study investigates vertical wastewater phytoremediation (

Environmental perspectives of Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash
Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 2008The twentieth century witnessed indiscriminate usage of natural resources for energy generation and xenobiotic chemical compounds for sustainability in agriculture and infrastructural development. Heavy metal and non-degradable chemical contamination of soil and water is one of the major environmental threats. In recent years, worldwide researchers are

Uprooting resistance of vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides)
2007Vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides), also known as Chrysopogon zizanioides, is a graminaceous plant native to tropical and subtropical India. The southern cultivar is sterile; it flowers but sets no seeds. It is a densely tufted, perennial grass that is considered sterile outside its natural habitat.

Growth management of vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) under Mediterranean conditions
Journal of Environmental Management, 2006In spite of the advantages of Vetiver grass in light of environmental aspects, this plant is not used in the Mediterranean region. The objectives of the present study were: (i) to elucidate growth parameters and establishment of Vetiver under Mediterranean conditions suitable for its various environmental applications; and (ii) to develop management ...

Chemically catalyzed uptake of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene by Vetiveria zizanioides
Environmental Pollution, 2007The efficiency of vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides) in removing 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) from aqueous media was explored in the presence of a common agrochemical, urea, used as a chaotropic agent. Chaotropic agents disrupt water structure, increasing solubilization of hydrophobic compounds (TNT), thus, enhancing plant TNT uptake.

Callus induction and plant regeneration in Vetiveria zizanioides
Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 1993Callus induction was obtained from basal parts of Vetiveria zizanioides Stapf. leaves cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 9.0 μM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-d), 5.7 μM indoleacetic acid (IAA) and 4.6 μM kinetin. Calli were maintained on MS medium with the addition of 0.9 μM 2,4-d and 2.3 μM kinetin. Shoot formation was
