NADP-malate dehydrogenase gene evolution in Andropogoneae (Poaceae): gene duplication followed by sub-functionalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
• Background and Aims Plastid NADP-dependent malate dehydrogenase (MDH) catalyses the conversion of oxaloacetate to malate. In C(4) plants, it is involved in photosynthetic carbon assimilation. In Poaceae, one NADP-MDH gene has been identified in rice (C(

The Effect of Ethyl Methane Sulfonate (EMS) on The In Vitro Shoot Regeneration of Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides [L.] Nash)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Life Science, 2020
Production of vetiver in Indonesia is low, and its oil quality is not in line with market demand due to the low quality of plant raw materials. In vitro mutagenesis using ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) has the potential to produce superior vetiver variants.

Vanadium removal and recovery from aqueous solution with repeated use of a KOH‐modified seaweed biochar adsorbent: characterisation and removal mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 100, Issue 10, Page 2039-2052, October 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND Vanadium (V) is a critical raw material which is extensively used in metallurgical, aerospace and chemical industries. However, V‐enriched wastewaters pose risks to human and environmental health due to their tendency to persist and bioaccumulate.

Plant–Earthworm Interaction Favors Invasive Alien Plants Over Natives in Cd‐Contaminated Environments

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
We investigated the impact of Cd pollution and earthworms on the growth of native and invasive plant species across different functional groups. Our findings revealed a mutually beneficial relationship between earthworms and invasive species in Cd‐contaminated environments, which enhances the competitive advantage of invasives over natives.
