Life time and cyclic slip of copper in the VHCF regime

International Journal of Fatigue, 2007
Abstract Studies were performed on the fatigue properties of polycrystalline copper at very low cyclic stress amplitudes and very high numbers of cycles. The experiments were carried out with the time-saving ultrasonic fatigue technique. Thus, experiments up to more than 1010 cycles could be performed within reasonable testing time.

VHCF-behavior of helical compression springs made of different materials

International Journal of Fatigue, 2011
Abstract This paper reports on procedure and preliminary research results of long-term fatigue tests up to a number of 109 cycles on shot peened helical compression springs with two basic dimensions, made of three different spring materials. The corresponding research project was initiated together with a working group of the Association of German ...

Fatigue behaviour of austenitic stainless steels in the VHCF regime

2018
The focus of this work lies on the investigation of the fatigue properties of austenitic Cr-Ni steels in the HCF and VHCF regime. This class of steels is characterized by low stacking fault energies which determine the main characteristics of deformation mechanisms (dislocation gliding, phase transformation).

Deriving a Continuous Fatigue Life Curve from LCF to VHCF

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2017
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Fatigue testing is known to be time consuming and expensive. Therefore, it should be the main target of fatigue research to accelerate the derivation of fatigue properties. Depending on the required properties, strain- or load-controlled fatigue tests have to be performed.< ...

Ultrasonic fatigue of SiC particle reinforced aluminum in the VHCF-regime

2012
At the WKK ultrasonic testing facilities (UTF) are used to perform fatigue experiments in the VHCF regime with a frequency of 20 kHz. These systems allow an on-line characterization of the actual fatigue state by changes of different process parameters such as generator power, displacement, temperature or frequency-response characteristic. Moreover the

Characterization and Evaluation of a Railway Wheel Steel in the HCF and VHCF Regimes

2017
As technology advances, the need for higher life components increases. This results in a growing need for better comprehension of the materials’ life for higher numbers of cycles. Therefore, the study of the fatigue life in all the operation regimes is gaining preponderance in engineering design and maintenance.
