The characteristics of vHIT gain and PR score in peripheral vestibular disorders

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2020
Clinical application of vHIT is limited due to a lack of interpretation of vHIT gain and saccades. This research focuses on comparing common vertigo diseases on vHIT gain and saccade divergence(PR score). We retrospectively reviewed 165 patients who have one definite diagnosis, good data quality, and can be read by MATLAB software.

The Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT)

2019
The video head impulse test (vHIT) is presently an essential part of the laboratory vestibular examination for patients with a suspected acute or chronic vestibular disorder. This chapter reviews its neurophysiology, interpretation, and clinical applications. A comparison with the caloric tests is included.

Binocular vHIT in Healthy Participants: An Optimized Strategy

The Laryngoscope
ABSTRACT Objective The objectives of this study were to observe the differences between the left and right eyes in healthy individuals during binocular video head impulse testing (vHIT) and to identify the optimal eye for a more precise evaluation of the vestibulo‐ocular reflex (VOR) gain.

Caloric Test, and Qualitative and Quantitative vHIT Analysis in Vestibular Schwannoma

Otology & Neurotology
Objectives To investigate relationships and discordant results between caloric testing and video head impulse testing (vHIT) among patients with unilateral vestibular schwannoma (VS), trying to establish if caloric testing and vHIT may provide complementary information on vestibular assessment.

vHIT: a new method for vestibular function testing

Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria
Case presentation: The video Head Impulse Test (vHIT) began to gain popularity around 2009 as a possible method to evaluate the function of each semicircular canal (SCC) individually (in pairs, right and left sides) non-invasively, and it is increasingly being used for the assessment of peripheral vestibular disorders.

Transmastoid superior semicircular canal dehiscence plugging: VHIT findings

Acta Oto-Laryngologica
Superior canal dehiscence syndrome (Minor's syndrome) is a condition characterized by a bony defect in the superior semicircular canal (SSCC), with treatment primarily being surgical, notably through plugging of SSCC.To examine the clinical outcome and postoperative VHIT findings after transmastoid plugging of the SSCC.Patients having a superior ...

Video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT) and the Assessment of Horizontal Semicircular Canal Function

Journal of the American Academy of Audiology, 2015
Background:Vestibular function (specifically, horizontal semicircular canal function) can be assessed across a broad frequency range using several different techniques. The head impulse test is a qualitative test of horizontal semicircular canal function that can be completed at bedside.

Evaluation of VOR function with vHIT in unilateral pediatric cochlear implant users

International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology
The changes in the inner ear affect both the cochlea and the vestibule and these effects are observed after cochlear implantation surgery. The aim of the current study is to evaluate the effect of unilateral cochlear implant use on vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) in children. In the current study, 29 cochlear implanted children, aged 7-18 years, were ...

Horizontal and Vertical vHIT in Acute Unilateral Vestibular Neuritis Patients.

Journal of Rhinolaryngo-Otologies, 2014
Objectives : Vestibular neuritis (VN) is an acute peripheral vestibulopathy that manifests with acute spontaneous vertigo, nausea and sometimes vomiting, and postural imbalance. Video head impulse test (vHIT) is an objective measure of responses of semicircular canals using high speed video measures of eye movement response to head impulses.

Development of a new software and test setup for analyzing hVOR in very young children by vHIT

Journal of Vestibular Research, 2017
INTRODUCTION: Earlier work revealed that vHIT examination is often difficult to perform on very young children. In particular, the calibration of the system can be difficult, as active cooperation of the patient is required.
