Maternal Adiponectin Decreases Placenta Nutrient Transport in Mice
The FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 8, 30 April 2025.The schematic illustrates the impact of adiponectin in placental function and fetal growth in obese pregnant mice. Adiponectin influences the placenta, by phosphorylation of mTOR at Ser2448 which alters its activity. This results in reduced nutrient influx (red arrows) to the fetus, ultimately contributing to fetal growth restriction.
