Continuous drive friction welding is a solid-state welding process that has been experimentally proven to be a fast and reliable method. This is a complex process; deformations in the viscosity of a material alter the friction between the surfaces of the pieces.

The vibrations of texture [PDF]
The Pacinian channel has been implicated in the perception of fine textures (Hollins et al., Somatosens Mot Res 18: 253–262, 2001a). In the present study, we investigate candidate codes for Pacinian-mediated roughness perception. We use a Hall effect transducer to record the vibrations elicited in the skin when a set of textured surfaces is passively ...

Description: In the on wrist scenario, we collect device credentials with different settings on the smartwatches to evaluate the efficacy and robustness of the system. In particular, we conduct experiments with 5 different vibration patterns, and 3 jamming attacks under different sound noises.

Unpicking vibration-vibration and vibration-torsion interactions in m-fluorotoluene
Two-dimensional laser-induced fluorescence (2D-LIF) spectra are reported for a set of features in the S1 ↔ S0 electronic spectrum of m-fluorotoluene. Two transitions previously assigned to fundamentals are reassigned in the present work. The main reassignments are confirmed with zero-electron-kinetic-energy (ZEKE) spectroscopy.

Vibrations in Microtubules [PDF]
Vibrations in microtubules and actin filaments are analysed using amethod similar to that employed for description of lattice vibrationsin solid state physics. The derived dispersion relations show thatvibrations in microtubules can have optical and acoustical branches. The highest frequency of vibrations in microtubules and in actinfilaments is of the ...

Summary: The effect of a high-frequency force on the response of a bistable system to a low-frequency signal is considered for both the overdamped and weakly damped cases. It is shown that the response can be optimized by an appropriate choice of vibration amplitude.

Harmonic Vibrations and Vibration Figures [PDF]
THE four authors of this book have each contributed an account of the construction and use of apparatus which they have invented or brought to perfection, the several parts of the book being independent of one another, but related by the similarity of the subject-matter.

Nonspherical armoured bubble vibration. [PDF]
In this paper, we study the dynamics of cylindrical armoured bubbles excited by mechanical vibrations. A step by step transition from cylindrical to spherical shape is reported as the intensity of the vibration is increased, leading to a reduction of the
