SOME ASPECTS OF THE IDENTIFICATION OF CONTINUOUS VIBRATING SYSTEMS
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983This paper deals with the identification of systems described by the one-dimensional, second order wave equation. Such equations arise commonly in various areas of mathematical physics, such as, acoustics, elastic wave propagation, and electromagnetic theory.

Vibration of continuous systems with compliant boundaries
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1977Abstract A theoretical study of two types of continuous systems with a general form of compliant boundary conditions is presented. The systems considered are elastic beams and circular plates with elastic damped edge constraints. Beam studies are restricted to those with identical boundary conditions at each end.

Impact damper for axial vibration of a continuous system
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2015Application of Impact damper for reduction of vibration amplitude through momentum transfer is now well established. However, no literature is available for the effect of an impact damper on axial vibration of a rod as a continuous system. The equation for axial vibratory displacement of the rod, fixed at one end and a lumped mass at the other end, is

Energy dissipation in forced vibrations of discretely continuous systems
Strength of Materials, 1988In the present work we suggest a method of taking energy dissipation in material into account in a simplified way in case of forced vibrations; the method consists in the analytical representation of an equation describing the contour of the hysteresis loop in the form of an expansion into a Fourier series, with the linear terms alone taken into ...

Vibration of Continuous Systems
1991Mechanical systems in general consist of structural components which have distributed mass and elasticity. Examples of these structural components are rods, beams, plates, and shells. Our study of vibration thus far has been limited to discrete systems which have a finite number of degrees of freedom.
