New mechanism for non-trivial intra-molecular vibrational dynamics

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the time evolution process of one selected (initially prepared by optical pumping) vibrational molecular state, coupled to all other intra-molecular vibrational states of the same molecule, and also to its environment.

Forced Vibration of Continuous Systems

open access: yes, 2021
In the previous chapter, we have considered the free vibration analysis of continuous systems. We pass on to the forced vibration analysis of continuous systems in this chapter. Though we start with axial vibration problem, the major emphasis will be placed on flexural vibrations of ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

A new concept of vibration-control system in continuous miner machine

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The article reviews the technical solution applied to these machines which are currently in use worldwide. Special attention is paid to the new concept of a cutter drum powertrain system, where the permanent magnet technology motors are proposed. Placing

Modal analysis of continuous systems by replacing displacement excitation with equivalent excitation force and fixed boundary

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2020
This paper describes the theoretical modal analysis of continuous systems that are subjected to displacement excitation. Because vibration modes of continuous systems whose boundaries actively move are unknown, we proposed an equivalent replacement ...

Reduction of Vibrations in Long-Span Continuous Girder Bridges with Pounding Tuned Mass Dampers

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
Earthquakes often cause bridges to vibrate to different degrees; moreover, in the case of poor road conditions, the vibration amplitude of bridges caused by vehicles often exceeds a reasonable range, thus causing different degrees of damage to bridges ...

An Analytical Dynamic Model for Vibration Suppression of a Multi-Span Continuous Bridge by Tuned Mass Dampers

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
In this paper, an analytical dynamic model is proposed for vibration suppression of a multi-span continuous bridge by tuned mass dampers (TMDs). Firstly, the partial differential equations (PDEs) that govern the motion of the multi-span continuous bridge

On-line analysis of random vibrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Measuring device, Randomdec, provides continuous on-line signatures representative of system free vibration curve. Selected points on curve are used in control and failure detection systems.

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...
