Surface-enhanced raman spectroscopic studies of coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1

open access: yes, 2008
We report, for the first time, the surface-enhanced Raman spectra of an important enzyme, coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1), involved in various biological activities such as tumor suppressor function and stem cell ...

Toward Fast Proton Shuttling in Acidic Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes proton transfer dynamics as a descriptor governing acidic OER activity, moving beyond the kinetic constraints derived from the proton coupled electron transfer. We discuss how deprotonation governs classical mechanisms, including adsorbate evolution mechanism (AEM), lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) and oxide path mechanism (OPM ...

Bioinspired Mechanically Robust Organic–Inorganic Hybridized Bio‐Adhesives With up to 50% Inorganic Components by Bi‐Continuous Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Predicting fan noise propagation in aeroengine bypass ducts

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis explores the prediction of rearwards fan noise propagation within the bypass duct and its radiation into the far feld. Two recently developed models: B-induct and GXMunt, are exploited in application to real engine bypass ducts and their ...

Biophysics of the cochlea. II. Steady-state non linear phenomena.

open access: yes, 1996
Nonlinearities affecting cochlear mechanics produce appreciable compression in the basilar membrane (BM) input/output (I/O) functions at the characteristic frequency for sound-pressure levels (SPLs) as low as 20 dB (re: 20 mu Pa).

Transparent and Robust LiCl–Organohydrogel Triboelectric Nanogenerator With Deep Learning Assisted Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Develop a LiCl–PEI–PAM hydrogel with 3000% stretchability and excellent optical transparency. Through comparative studies of various salts, confirm that LiCl is the most suitable salt for high TENG output. Achieve excellent freeze‐resistant, dry‐resistant, and rapid self‐healing (10 s) properties even in extreme environments. Balance ionic conductivity,

Reduced Graphene Oxide Transparent Electrodes Enabling Compact Soft Tunable Lenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By spray‐coating an elastomeric membrane with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) at various surface densities, elastomeric actuators are manufactured. Electro‐mechano‐optical characterizations show the suitability of rGO as an effective material for compliant, semi‐transparent electrodes, enabling soft electrically tunable lenses with a compact form factor ...
