Improvement of Vibration Sensitivity by Tangential Vibration
A vibration sensitivity is usually defined by the minimum amplitude when a subject perceives the vibration with ω1which is the frequency of perpendicular direction on the skin surface. In this work, we are interested in how the vibration sensitivity at ω1is changed under the condition adding the tangential vibration with ω2which is the frequency of ...

A case of relapsing polychondritis presenting as tracheomalacia is reported in which an unusual low pitched sound was heard at the mouth and over the chest wall during expiration. The sound was associated with expiratory airflow limitation and oscillation on the flow trace of approximately 50 Hz.

The vibrations of texture [PDF]
The Pacinian channel has been implicated in the perception of fine textures (Hollins et al., Somatosens Mot Res 18: 253–262, 2001a). In the present study, we investigate candidate codes for Pacinian-mediated roughness perception. We use a Hall effect transducer to record the vibrations elicited in the skin when a set of textured surfaces is passively ...

A seismic vibrator driven by linear synchronous motors: Developing a prototype vibrator, investigating the vibrator-ground contact and exploring robust signal design [PDF]
The seismic method is an important indirect method to investigate the subsurface of the earth. By analyzing how the earth affects the propagation of mechanical waves, the structure of the earth and its seismic properties can be inferred.
