A Vibrotactile Sensory Feedback System for Prosthetic devices
TENCON 2019 - 2019 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON), 2019Available upper limb active prosthetic devices lack any form of sensory feedback. This paper presents development of a vibrotactile sensory feedback system employing the sensory substitution method. Testing the device with amputees and improvement in overall experience of using the device with the developed system is also discussed.

Immersive game with vibrotactile and thermal feedback
5th International Conference on Computer Sciences and Convergence Information Technology, 2010This paper proposes an immersive game system where a user haptically senses the state of a target object. To construct the game, we first present a vibrotactile signal generation method which provides variable vibrotactile effects according to a user's interaction and graphic environments.

Vibrotactile Feedback for an Open Air Music Controller
2014In this paper we describe an approach for providing vibrotactile feedback for digital musical instruments (DMIs) that are controlled with open air hand motion. The hand motion was captured with infrared marker based motion capture technology. The marker position data was mapped to the control parameters of both sound and vibrotactile signal synthesis ...

A Vibrotactile Feedback Device for Seated Balance Assessment and Training
Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2019Postural perturbations, motion tracking, and sensory feedback are modern techniques used to challenge, assess, and train upright sitting, respectively. The goal of the developed protocol is to construct and operate a sitting platform that can be passively destabilized while an inertial measurement unit quantifies its motion and vibrating elements ...

Vibrotactile Stimuli for Distinction of Virtual Constraints and Environment Feedback
2014In virtual reality and teleoperation scenarios, active constraints can be used to guide a user, prevent him from entering forbidden regions, and assist him in general. On a haptic interface, this implies superimposing the forces generated by the active constraints on top of the forces that are generated by the environment (real or virtual).

Vibrotactile feedback and visual cues for arm posture replication
2011 IEEE 5th International Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM), 2011For rehabilitation applications using multiple types of feedback can help speed up posture correction of the subject - visual cues are particularly helpful in providing global information to the subjects. This paper presents a system that aids students to mimic a master's arm posture using vibrotactile feedback and visual cues.

Design of a vibrotactile feedback virtual testbed
CCECE '97. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Engineering Innovation: Voyage of Discovery. Conference Proceedings, 2002This paper presents the software infrastructure design for a virtual environment testbed that provides vibrotactile feedback. The process involved identifying system requirements and constraints from an experimental design, the selection of system components, and the development of software modules. The infrastructure interfaces with hardware input and
