Adaptation to high-frequency vibrotactile stimulations fails to affect the clock in young children
Being able to estimate time precisely is fundamental to interact with the environment, and it is startling how our ability to track temporal intervals is prone to distortion.

Observing another in pain facilitates vicarious experiences and modulates somatosensory experiences [PDF]
Objective: This study investigated whether individuals reporting vicarious pain in daily life (e.g., the self-reported vicarious pain group) display vicarious experiences during an experimental paradigm, and also show an improved detection of ...

Designing Vibrotactile Widgets with Printed Actuators and Sensors [PDF]
Physical controls are fabricated through complicated assembly of parts requiring expensive machinery and are prone to mechanical wear. One solution is to embed controls directly in interactive surfaces, but the proprioceptive part of gestural interaction

Functional MRI of working memory and selective attention in vibrotactile frequency discrimination
Background Focal lesions of the frontal, parietal and temporal lobe may interfere with tactile working memory and attention. To characterise the neural correlates of intact vibrotactile working memory and attention, functional MRI was conducted in 12 ...

Discrimination of vibrotactile frequencies in a delayed pair comparison task [PDF]
This study quantified human short-term-memory decay functions for delayed vibrotactile frequency discriminations. Subjects indicated which of two successive intervals contained the higher or lower frequency of a pair separated by delay periods of 0.5-30 sec. Performance decreased as a function of length of delay and was higher when delays were unfilled

Vibrotactile signals can aid recognition of spectrally degraded speech signals [PDF]
The potential utility of providing low-frequency portions of speech signals through vibrotactile stimulation as an aid to speech recognition by cochlear implant recipients was examined. Sixty-five young adults with normal hearing heard four-channel noise-
