Improving Regional Hydrological Modeling in the Iberian Peninsula Using the Vic Model and Optimized Wrf/Noah-Mp Parameterizations

open access: yesPhysics and Chemistry of the Earth, Parts A/B/C
Accurate hydrological modeling is essential for managing water resources under climate change, especially in regions like the Iberian Peninsula (IP), characterized by diverse hydroclimatic conditions. This study aims to enhance regional hydrological simulation performance across the IP by optimizing the configuration of the Noah Land Surface Model with

Sub‐Nanometer Curvature Unlocks Quantum Orbital Flexoelectricity in Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In self‐assembled, reproducible, large‐area, quasi‐pristine graphene nanowrinkles, extreme curvature forces out‐of‐plane π‐electrons toward hybridization, driving a transition from classical to quantum orbital flexoelectricity. As curvature approaches the fundamental physical limit set by the C─C bond length, the resulting polarization increases by ...

Endothelin-2/Vasoactive Intestinal Contractor: Regulation of Expression via Reactive Oxygen Species Induced by CoCl22, and Biological Activities Including Neurite Outgrowth in PC12 Cells

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2006
This paper reviews the local hormone endothelin-2 (ET-2), or vasoactive intestinal contractor (VIC), a member of the vasoconstrictor ET peptide family, where ET-2 is the human orthologous peptide of the murine VIC.

Gapless Superconductivity From Extremely Dilute Magnetic Disorder in 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx hosts gapless superconductivity at unexpectedly low magnetic impurity concentrations. Combining STM, Bogoliubovde Gennes simulations, DFT, and quasiparticle interference, we comprehensively study the development of gapless behavior and show that SeS substitution reshapes the band structure, enhances nesting, and drives ...

Variable Impedance Control for Active Suspension of Off-Road Vehicles on Deformable Terrain Considering Soil Sinkage

open access: yesVibration
Off-road vehicle control designs often neglect the complex tire–soil interactions inherent to soft terrain. This paper proposes a Variable Impedance Control (VIC) strategy integrated with a high-fidelity terramechanics model.

Improving runoff simulation in the Western United States with Noah-MP and VIC models

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences
Abstract. Streamflow predictions are critical for managing water resources and for environmental conservation, especially in the water-short Western United States. Land surface models (LSMs), such as the variable infiltration capacity (VIC) model and the Noah LSM with multiparameterization options (Noah-MP), play an essential role in providing ...

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Topology‐Orchestrated Multi‐physical Energy Control in Turtle Shell‐Inspired Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A turtle shell‐inspired lattice metamaterial efficiently manages acoustic, fluid‐thermal, and mechanical energy flows simultaneously. The unique hybrid‐coupling architecture achieves superior sound attenuation via pore‐cavity resonance, facilitates effective airflow transport, and maximizes mechanical energy absorption through multistage cell ...

Nuclear Pore Mechanotransduction in Oncology: A Structural Axis of Vulnerability for Targeted Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated NPC remodeling creates a high‐flux, low‐stringency nuclear state that supports malignant adaptation but increases mechanical fragility. Targeting the FG‐barrier or NPC scaffold may drive mechanostat failure, envelope rupture, DNA damage, and loss of nuclear integrity.
