HISUI vicarious calibration and CAL/VAL activities
2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014The Hyperspectral Imager Suite (HISUI) is the Japanese next-generation Earth observation project, and is being developed by Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). We conduct the vicarious calibration for HISUI instrument as the pre-launch activities in summer in the southern hemisphere.

Vicarious calibration of ASTER thermal infrared bands
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2005The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on the Terra satellite has five bands in the thermal infrared (TIR) spectral region between 8-12 /spl mu/m. The TIR bands have been regularly validated in-flight using ground validation targets.

Vicarious Calibration of Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2019Vicarious calibration methods use well-characterized surface sites to complement other on-orbit radiometric calibration techniques. Since 2009, NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) and Japan’s Greenhouse gasses Observing SATellite teams have conducted annual campaigns at Railroad Valley, NV, USA, for this purpose.

Compositional characterisation of the pinnacles vicarious calibration site
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017Earth Observation (EO) satellite data are the single most important and richest source of environmental information for Australia. It is expected that future imaging spectroscopy satellites will be important for Australia for accessing critical information for managing natural and non-renewable resources, such as dry plant matter and mineralogy, which ...

Vicarious calibration of GLI by ground observation data
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2005We conducted vicarious calibration of the Global Imager (GLI) in visible to near-infrared channels over different targets. For calibration over the ocean, we used the normalized water-leaving radiance derived from the Marine Optical Buoy (MOBY) and the aerosol optical properties (aerosol optical depth, size distribution, and refractive index) obtained ...

Assessment of HISUI radiometric performance using vicarious calibration and cross-calibration
2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015The Hyperspectral Imager Suite (HISUI) is a future hyper-spectral and multispectral sensor developed by Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). Radiometric calibration of satellite sensor system is very important for the higher level products with high quality.

Vicarious calibration of Aqua and Terra MODIS
SPIE Proceedings, 2003The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is onboard both the Terra and Aqua platforms. An important aspect of the use of MODIS, and other Earth Science Enterprise sensors, has been the characterization and calibration of the sensors and validation of their data products.

Vicarious calibration and validation in the thermal region
SPIE Proceedings, 2002A vicarious calibration was performed for the thermal channels of the airborne DAIS imaging spectrometer during ESA campaigns in Barrax (Spain) in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Ground measurements of temperature were collected in different fields coincidentally with the flights to provide calibration and validation targets for the thermal channels of DAIS.

Vicarious calibration of KOMPSAT-3 AEISS
SPIE Proceedings, 2015This paper presents a vicarious radiometric calibration of the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-3 (KOMPSAT-3) performed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and the Pukyong National University Remote Sensing Group (PKNU RSG) in 2012 and 2014. Correlations between top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiances and the spectral band responses of the KOMPSAT ...
