Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

A Three points bending ultrasonic fatigue resistance and vickers hardness of Tlalpujahua clay thermally treated

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity
Ultrasonic fatigue at an operating frequency of 20 kHz was conducted on thermally treated clay bricks at 500, 750, and 1000 °C with a holding time of 5 h, using a three-point bending setup to assess their fatigue endurance.

Structural and Mechanical Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe60Al30Cu10 (at.%) Powders Prepared by Mechanical Alloying

open access: yesGazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi, 2019
In the present study, the nanostructured Fe(Al,Cu) solid solution was synthesized by mechanical alloying (MA) process of the elemental powders. The powder mixtures were milled in a planetary ball mill for various periods of time, up to 50 h.

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Thermal-Mechanical Properties of Polyurethane-Clay Shape Memory Polymer Nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Shape memory nanocomposites of polyurethane (PU)-clay were fabricated by melt mixing of PU and nano-clay. Based on nano-indentation and microhardness tests, the strength of the nanocomposites increased dramatically as a function of clay content, which is

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Experimental analysis and modeling of micro-texture and vickers hardness impact on polished stone value in high-friction aggregates

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
This article intends to study the influence of micro-texture and Vickers hardness on the Polished Stone Value (PSV) of four types of high friction aggregates (90# Bauxite, 75# Bauxite, Basalt, and Granite) during the long-term polishing process. For this

Highly processable bulk metallic glass-forming alloys in the Pt–Co–Ni–Cu–P system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Highly processable bulk metallic glass alloys in the Pt–Co–Ni–Cu–P system were discovered. The alloys show low liquidus temperature below 900 K, excellent processability with low critical cooling rate reflecting in maximum casting thicknesses in quartz ...
