An eye on long‐duration spaceflight: Controversies, countermeasures and challenges

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Space flight‐associated neuroocular syndrome (SANS) is a consequence of long‐duration space flight and is detected in two‐thirds of astronauts. In‐flight, this can cause a change in the refraction of the eyes, requiring graded hypermetropic ‘superfocus adjustable’ glasses, optic nerve head oedema and choroidal folds.

Comparison of Mixed and Door-to-Door Systems for Urban Waste Collection in Terms of Effectiveness and Greenhouse Gas Emissions: A Case Study from Two Mountainous Italian Valleys

open access: yesResources
Collecting urban solid waste (USW) is a critical and essential phase for proper waste management and valorization. To date, many data are available for large cities, but few studies have focused on low-density areas, such as mountainous regions ...

The search for the ultimate exercise countermeasure to preserve crew health and ensure mission success in long‐duration spaceflight

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The current understanding of crew health maintenance is founded upon decades of physiological research conducted in terrestrial spaceflight analogues and in low Earth orbit, particularly on the International Space Station. However, as we progress towards the Lunar Gateway and interplanetary missions, it is imperative that the tools employed to

BACON VE VICO'DA İLÂHÎ VE ÎNSANÎ BİLGİ

open access: yesFelsefe Dünyası, 2004
In this article, Bacon's and Vico's ideas on divine and human knowledge are compared. According to Bacon, the sphere of knowledge is the sphere of nature. For Vico, the sphere of knowledge is human deeds.

l-Amino Acid Production by a Immobilized Double-Racemase Hydantoinase Process: Improvement and Comparison with a Free Protein System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Protein immobilization is proving to be an environmentally friendly strategy for manufacturing biochemicals at high yields and low production costs. This work describes the optimization of the so-called “double-racemase hydantoinase process,” a system of

50% body weight loading reduces stature increases and lumbar disc expansion from 4 h hyper‐buoyancy floatation versus 15 min sitting upright

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Microgravity is associated with stature increases, back pain and post‐flight intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation. This study aims to determine whether 30 s seated 50% body weight (BW) axial loading is comparable to 15 min sitting upright in 1 g upon changes in stature, anterior lumbar IVD height (via ultrasound), passive vertebral stiffness ...

Le « ragioni favoleggiate da fantasia »

open access: yesItalies, 2021
L’antithèse entre « illusion » et « imagination » dans la pensée de Vico ne pourrait être plus frappante, cependant une solide tradition critique a, non sans raison, lié le développement de la théorie romantique de l’illusion à l’influence de Vico.

Blood flow restriction: The acute effects of body tilting and reduced gravity analogues on limb occlusion pressure

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Blood flow restriction (BFR) has been identified as a potential countermeasure to mitigate physiological deconditioning during spaceflight. Guidelines recommend that tourniquet pressure be prescribed relative to limb occlusion pressure (LOP); however, it is unclear whether body tilting or reduced gravity analogues influence LOP.
