VICRYL MESH FOR REPAIR OF SEVERELY INJURED KIDNEYS

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1993
We evaluated the efficacy of wrapping the kidney with semi-elastic Vicryl mesh for control of hemorrhage and preservation of renal function following grade III kidney lacerations (shattered kidney) in dogs in which nephrectomy was indicated clinically. Wrapping of fragmented kidneys resulted in prompt, sustained hemostasis and reapposition of the renal

Comparing the Clinical and Microbiological Effects of Antibacterial-Coated Vicryl Suture and Non-Coated Vicryl Suture after Minor Oral Surgical Procedures

Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery
Surgical site infections are among the most common nosocomial infections, potentially leading to serious complications after surgical interventions. In intraoral surgical procedures, sutures are exposed to various bacterial species, raising the question of whether antibacterial-coated suture material is beneficial in reducing SSIs.

[Comparison between Polyglactin 910 (Vicryl®) versus irradiated Polyglactin 910 (rapid Vicryl®) for mucosal suture after wisdom teeth avulsion].

Revue de stomatologie, de chirurgie maxillo-faciale et de chirurgie orale, 2014
Two different types of suture are used in our unit after wisdom tooth extraction, Polyglactin 910 [PGS] (Vicryl®, Ethicon) and rapid absorption irradiated Polyglactin 910 [PGI]. No objective comparative study was available so we decided to conduct a preliminary prospective study to check if there was any difference between these two types of suture ...

Experiences with polyglactin 910 (Vicryl) in general surgery.

Acta chirurgica Scandinavica, 1978
The physical properties of polyglactin 910 (Vicryl) have been studied experimentally and clinically and compared with other synthetic and natural suture materials. Polyglactin 910 has a relatively high fluid absorption capacity but a low capillary capacity.

Surgical radiation therapy with vicryl-125I absorbable sutures.

Surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, 1976
A convenient method of interstitial radiation therapy can be quickly and easily accomplished using absorbable Vicryl-125I sutures which offer these general advantages: long shelf life, 60 day half-life; low energy, 28 kilo electron volts, permitting patients to leave the hospital; good geometric and anatomic distribution of 125I seeds which remain in ...
