A new technique of dural closure ? experience with a vicryl mesh

Acta Neurochirurgica, 1997
Treatment of postoperative dural CSF leaks following posterior fossa surgery remains a difficult and often perplexing problem. Their management includes either non-operative management or surgical re-exploration. In order to avoid CSF leaks we developed a simple but effective method using a well-cut sheet of a vicryl-poly-p-dioxanone mesh (Ethisorb ...

Use of Vicryl Mesh in Prevention of Postrhinoplasty Dorsal Irregularities

The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, 1989
Small, palpable, and visible dorsal irregularities may occur in as many as 5–10% of rhinoplasties. They can be unacceptable to both the surgeon and patient and can lead to unwanted secondary surgery. In 88 patients treated over an 18-month period, VICRYL mesh implants consisting of one to three layers of VICRYL were placed under direct vision over the

Collagen‐Vicryl scaffolds for reconstruction of the diaphragm in a large animal model

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, 2013
AbstractCurrent methods for closure of congenital diaphragmatic hernia using patches are unsatisfactory, and novel collagen‐based scaffolds have been developed, and successfully applied in a rat model. However, for translation to the human situation constructs must be evaluated in larger animal models.

A Combination of Vicryl and Marlex Mesh

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1995
The circumstances in which it is unsafe or impossible to perform primary fascial closure are becoming more frequent. Five cases are reported using a combination of Vicryl and Marlex mesh, such that the Vicryl mesh prevents enterocutaneous fistulae and the Marlex mesh prevents late ventral hernias.

A new oesophageal tube: Assessment of collagen/vicryl composite membrane

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1992
Collagen/vicryl composite membrane has been previously shown to be of use in an experimental model as a patch graft in the bladder and oesophagus. Attempts to use it as a circumferential tube graft have been unsuccessful due to the development of strictures at the site of anastomosis. We inserted a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) stented collagen/vicryl

Conjunctival Closure in Strabismus Surgery: Vicryl Versus Fibrin Glue

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1996
Abstract. Six patients undergoing bilateral symmetric strabismus surgery were enrolled in this study. For each subject, incisions were closed with Vicryl in one eye and glue in the other. The conjunctival closure with the Vicryl suture resulted in increased discomfort and inflammation during the early postoperative period compared with fibrin glue ...

Internal fixation of lateral clavicle fractures with Vicryl tape

European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 2002

Coated Vicryl synthetic absorbable sutures.

Surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, 1980
An absorbable lublicating coating applied to Vicryl sutures has improved the ease with which the sutures pass through tissue and has made handling and tying better. The coated sutures were found to be safe, strong and secure. No disadvantages were seen as a result of coating the synthetic absorbable Vicryl sutures in the 49 patients studied.
