The importance of integrating herbarium records into conservation plans: a case study on Honduran ferns and lycophytes

Herbarium collections are powerful, yet underutilized, tools for global biodiversity conservation and protected area management. By integrating digitized herbarium records with existing biodiversity data, previously unknown plant species were uncovered, exposing critical gaps in conservation knowledge.

Xylella fastidiosa is a major plant pathogen affecting crops such as grapes, citrus, almonds, and olives, with potentially severe consequences for agricultural production and rural livelihoods worldwide. This paper examines the conflict around the management of the X. fastidiosa outbreak affecting olive trees in southern Italy.

The European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) as an ally for the control of the invasive yellow‐legged hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax)

The predatory effect of the honey‐buzzard affects the reproductive performance of Asian‐hornet colonies, decreasing the density of workers over distance and time. The foraging distances of the honey‐buzzard concentrates within the first 2000 m from nest, which supports the results observed.
