Wireless Capsule Endoscopy video segmentation
2009 IEEE International Workshop on Medical Measurements and Applications, 2009Interpretation of WCE video is nowadays largely left to the visual inspection of a medical specialist. This tedious and time consuming task could greatly benefit from techniques that automatically classify and exclude from further processing the non-relevant frames in the video.

Interference Between Pacemaker and Video Capsule Endoscopy
PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2004The wireless capsule video endoscopy is useful in patients with occult blood loss, but is contraindicated in patients with cardiac pacemaker (PM). No case of interference has been published. We report the case of a patient with a PM implanted in the abdominal wall.

Wireless Capsule endoscopy video summary
2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2010Wireless Capsule endoscopy (WCE) has been developed to allow direct view of the entire small bowel in human body in a noninvasive manner for the first time. But the visual inspection of a large number of video frames produced in each examination poses a tedious task to physicians.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy Color Video Segmentation
IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2008This paper describes the use of color image analysis to automatically discriminate between oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon tissue in wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE). WCE uses "pill-cam" technology to recover color video imagery from the entire gastrointestinal tract.

Video capsule endoscopy of the small bowel
Current Opinion in Gastroenterology, 2008Small bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) was introduced 13 years ago by Given Imaging (Yokneam, Israel). It has become one of the most important investigational tools of the small bowel. The capsule is swallowed with water after a 12 h fast, propelled via peristalsis through the gastrointestinal tract and excreted naturally.

Reading wireless video capsule endoscopy
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2004Capsule endoscopy (CE) is a new technology that has enormous potential for the noninvasive investigation of diseases of the small intestine. The use of the technology is spreading rapidly, and its benefits and limitationsare becoming apparent. The learning of a systematic approach to viewing the videos produced from CE will optimize the diagnostic ...

Video Capsule Endoscopy in Children
2014Almost all but the most proximal and distal segments of the small bowel are essentially out of range of standard endoscopes. Push enteroscopy generally allows visualization only of the proximal areas of the jejunum, up to about 150 cm distal to the pylorus.

Video Capsule Endoscopy: Is Bowel Preparation Necessary?
Journal of Investigative Medicine, 2016There is no standardized protocol for bowel preparation prior to video capsule endoscopy, although one is strongly recommended. The purpose of our study was to see if there was a statistical significance between small bowel mucosal visualization rates for those who received bowel preparation and those who did not.
