Subjective and Objective Video Codec Evaluation
2011 15th Panhellenic Conference on Informatics, 2011This paper describes the methodology and the results of the objective and subjective evaluation of four codecs: AVC/H.264, VC-1, MPEG-4 Visual, and MPEG-2. The standard -- based evaluation procedure has been applied on three video sequences and produced 576 file versions and interesting benchmarking results.

Improvement of the spatial scalable video codec
2012 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2012The down-sampling method generally employs strong anti-aliasing for visual friendliness. However, scalable video coding reuse base layer representation for compression efficiency. The proposed method applies down-sampling method at the encoder, where strong anti-aliasing did not be considered.

100x Evolution of Video Codec Chips
Proceedings of the 2017 ACM on International Symposium on Physical Design, 2017In the past two decades, there has been tremendous progress in video compression technologies. Meanwhile, the use of these technologies, along with the ever-increasing demand for emerging ultra-high-definition applications greatly challenges the design of video codec chips, with the extensive requirements on both memory (DRAM) bandwidth and computation

A Hybrid Transform Coding for Video Codec
9th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT'06), 2006This paper proposes a hybrid transform coding technique, where the intraframes of video sequence are coded by discrete wavelet transform and the interframes are coded with discrete cosine transform technique. It also proposes the selection of sequence of frames predicted from the reference intraframes.

Dirac was started off by British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) in 2003 as an experimental video coding system based on wavelet technology, which is different from that used in the main proprietary/standard video compression systems. Over the years, Dirac has grown out of its initial development and it is now on offer as an advanced royalty-free video coding

Processible video codec on camera operations
Systems and Computers in Japan, 1996AbstractThis paper proposes processible video codec on camera operations (PVCC) which uses two video data (camera parameters and image contents) to improve the efficiency of video editing. Image data are separated in the coding; they are selected and synthesized in the decoding.

Video DSP architecture for MPEG2 codec
Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002We developed a DSP named VDSP2 (Video Digital Signal Processor version 2) for MPEG2 video coding and decoding. In order to obtain the necessary performance, we employed a 2-level parallel processing scheme consisting of a pipeline processing at the macro block level and a parallel vector processing using a SIMD configuration at the block level.
