Improvement of the spatial scalable video codec
2012 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2012The down-sampling method generally employs strong anti-aliasing for visual friendliness. However, scalable video coding reuse base layer representation for compression efficiency. The proposed method applies down-sampling method at the encoder, where strong anti-aliasing did not be considered.

100x Evolution of Video Codec Chips
Proceedings of the 2017 ACM on International Symposium on Physical Design, 2017In the past two decades, there has been tremendous progress in video compression technologies. Meanwhile, the use of these technologies, along with the ever-increasing demand for emerging ultra-high-definition applications greatly challenges the design of video codec chips, with the extensive requirements on both memory (DRAM) bandwidth and computation

UVG dataset: 50/120fps 4K sequences for video codec analysis and development
ACM SIGMM Conference on Multimedia Systems, 2020This paper provides an overview of our open Ultra Video Group (UVG) dataset that is composed of 16 versatile 4K (3840×2160) test video sequences. These natural sequences were captured either at 50 or 120 frames per second (fps) and stored online in raw 8-

A Hybrid Transform Coding for Video Codec
9th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT'06), 2006This paper proposes a hybrid transform coding technique, where the intraframes of video sequence are coded by discrete wavelet transform and the interframes are coded with discrete cosine transform technique. It also proposes the selection of sequence of frames predicted from the reference intraframes.

Codec-Aware Video Delivery Over SDNs
2021To guarantee quality of delivery for video streaming over software defined networks, efficient predictors and adaptive routing frameworks are required. We demonstrate an agent that predicts video quality of delivery metrics in a scalable way using a bespoke codec-aware learning model.

Processible video codec on camera operations
Systems and Computers in Japan, 1996AbstractThis paper proposes processible video codec on camera operations (PVCC) which uses two video data (camera parameters and image contents) to improve the efficiency of video editing. Image data are separated in the coding; they are selected and synthesized in the decoding.

Video DSP architecture for MPEG2 codec
Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002We developed a DSP named VDSP2 (Video Digital Signal Processor version 2) for MPEG2 video coding and decoding. In order to obtain the necessary performance, we employed a 2-level parallel processing scheme consisting of a pipeline processing at the macro block level and a parallel vector processing using a SIMD configuration at the block level.

A fast algorithm for video codec
WCC 2000 - ICCT 2000. 2000 International Conference on Communication Technology Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX420), 2002This paper presents a very fast algorithm for a video codec based on H.263. This algorithm includes "fast motion detection", "fast motion estimation", and "referred frame selection". By the algorithm we implement a software-based multipoint-to-multipoint videoconferencing system over an IP network.
