Mixed-resolution HEVC based multiview video codec [PDF]

open access: yes2017 3DTV Conference: The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video (3DTV-CON), 2017
Studies have shown that mixed resolution based video codecs, also known as asymmetric spatial inter/intra view video codecs are successful in efficiently coding videos for low bitrate trans-mission. In this paper a HEVC based spatial resolution scaling type of mixed resolution coding model for frame interleaved multiview videos is presented.

Deep Learning Post-Filtering Using Multi-Head Attention and Multiresolution Feature Fusion for Image and Intra-Video Quality Enhancement

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The paper proposes a novel post-filtering method based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for quality enhancement of RGB/grayscale images and video sequences. The lossy images are encoded using common image codecs, such as JPEG and JPEG2000.

On the Optimal Selection of Mel‐Frequency Cepstral Coefficients for Voice Deepfake Detection

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The continuous evolution of techniques for generating manipulated audio, known as voice deepfakes, and the widespread availability of tools that produce convincing forgeries have created an urgent need for reliable detection methods. This work considers the dimensionality of Mel‐Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) as a core design variable

Layer Selection in Progressive Transmission of Motion-Compensated JPEG2000 Video [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
MCJ2K (Motion-Compensated JPEG2000) is a video codec based on MCTF (Motion- Compensated Temporal Filtering) and J2K (JPEG2000). MCTF analyzes a sequence of images, generating a collection of temporal sub-bands, which are compressed with J2K.

The disparity between optimal and practical Lagrangian multiplier estimation in video encoders

open access: yesFrontiers in Signal Processing, 2023
With video streaming making up 80% of the global internet bandwidth, the need to deliver high-quality video at low bitrate, combined with the high complexity of modern codecs, has led to the idea of a per-clip optimisation approach in transcoding.

Validity and Reliability of the Heart Rate Matching Task: A Novel Measure of Heart Rate Estimation

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Sensing and monitoring changes in our heart rate is a key aspect of interoception. We introduce and test the construct validity of the Heart Rate Matching task (HRM), a novel, fast and accessible task designed to assess the ability to estimate heart rate, in both remote (i.e., online) and in‐lab settings.

Mitigating the impact of packet reordering to maximize performance of multimedia applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We propose a solution to mitigate the performance degradation and corresponding Quality of Experience (QoE) reduction caused by packet reordering for multimedia applications which utilise unreliable transport protocols like the Datagram Congestion ...
