XModal-ID: Using WiFi for Through-Wall Person Identification from Candidate Video Footage

open access: yesACM/IEEE International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking, 2019
In this paper, we propose XModal-ID, a novel WiFi-video cross-modal gait-based person identification system. Given the WiFi signal measured when an unknown person walks in an unknown area and a video footage of a walking person in another area, XModal-ID

Rewriting Video: Text-Driven Reauthoring of Video Footage

open access: yesProceedings of the 31st International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces
Video is a powerful medium for communication and storytelling, yet reauthoring existing footage remains challenging. Even simple edits often demand expertise, time, and careful planning, constraining how creators envision and shape their narratives. Recent advances in generative AI suggest a new paradigm: what if editing a video were as straightforward

Computer Vision Enables Monitoring and Kinetic Analysis of Structurally Diverse Carbon Monoxide Surrogates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A non‐contact computer vision method enables monitoring and quantitative comparison of vessel‐specific CO release kinetics from structurally diverse surrogates in two‐chamber COware reactors, revealing that surrogate reactivity scores correlate with carbonylation reaction outcomes.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
