Block-Based Compressed Sensing of Images and VideO

Foundations and Trends® in Signal Processing, 2012
A number of techniques for the compressed sensing of imagery are surveyed. Various imaging media are considered, including still images, motion video, as well as multiview image sets and multiview video. A particular emphasis is placed on block-based compressed sensing due to its advantages in terms of both lightweight reconstruction complexity as well

Restoration of differential images for enhancement of compressed video

Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, 2004
Abstract A modified regularization algorithm is proposed to enhance compressed video by restoring predictive-coded pictures. Since most video coding standards adopt a hybrid structure of macroblock-based motion compensation and block discrete cosine transform, the blocking artifacts occurs at both the block boundary and block interior, and the ...

From image and video compression to computer graphics

Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2000
We report previous effort in expanding image and video compression to computer graphics applications, in particular those based on image-based rendering. We then introduce our progress in developing a networked immersive environment that integrates image analysis, face animation, and streaming of 3D objects, to provide a truly immersive environment ...

Image/Video Compression with Artificial Neural Networks

2009
Both Information Compression and Parallel Processing are key issues nowadays. And both are our framework for our proposal. Our purpose was to accomplish an exhaustive study about patterns recognition using backpropagation neural networks with multilayer perceptron topology for its subsequent application to image and video compression.

Near-infrared temporal compressive imaging for video

Optics Letters, 2019
Without decreasing spatial resolution, temporal compressive imaging (TCI) can improve the temporal resolution of an imaging sensor and relax the requirement of the data readout speed in high-speed imaging. In this Letter, we describe a near-infrared TCI system that can reconstruct 500 fps videos from coded measurement frames sampled at 50 fps.

Scalable Image and Video Compression

2018
This chapter introduces the fundamental concepts employed in (scalable) image and video compression schemes, which are required to understand and appreciate the contributions of this thesis. The main difference between image and video compression is that the latter can exploit both spatial and temporal redundancies in the data, which results in higher ...

Digital Image and Video Compression

2011
For a long time, data compression was primarily intended to counteract the bandwidth limitations faced by computing equipment when handling internal and external data transfer and storage. Improvements in network and storage technology have gradually reduced these bandwidth limitations. Unfortunately, data volumes have continued to increase at the same
