DiffusionVID: Denoising Object Boxes With Spatio–Temporal Conditioning for Video Object Detection

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Several existing still image object detectors suffer from image deterioration in videos, such as motion blur, camera defocus, and partial occlusion. We present DiffusionVID, a diffusion model-based video object detector that exploits spatio-temporal ...

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

High efficiency compression for object detection

open access: yes, 2018
Image and video compression has traditionally been tailored to human vision. However, modern applications such as visual analytics and surveillance rely on computers seeing and analyzing the images before (or instead of) humans.

Object-aware Feature Aggregation for Video Object Detection

open access: yes, 2020
We present an Object-aware Feature Aggregation (OFA) module for video object detection (VID). Our approach is motivated by the intriguing property that video-level object-aware knowledge can be employed as a powerful semantic prior to help object recognition.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Filtering Empty Video Frames for Efficient Real-Time Object Detection

open access: yesSensors
Deep learning models have significantly improved object detection, which is essential for visual sensing. However, their increasing complexity results in higher latency and resource consumption, making real-time object detection challenging.

SG-FCN: A Motion and Memory-Based Deep Learning Model for Video Saliency Detection

open access: yes, 2018
Data-driven saliency detection has attracted strong interest as a result of applying convolutional neural networks to the detection of eye fixations. Although a number of imagebased salient object and fixation detection models have been proposed, video ...

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...
