Pricing model for internet-based multi-class Video-On-Demand(VOD) services
Telecommunication Systems, 2006This paper presents an optimal Pay-Per-View (PPV) price decision model for maximizing an Internet based Video-On-Demand (VOD) service provider's revenues, taking into account the service provider's service quality and consumers' willingness to pay. The model considers multi-class VOD services with differentiated qualities and determines the optimal ...

New batching policy for providing true video-on-demand (T-VoD) in multicast system
1999 IEEE International Conference on Communications (Cat. No. 99CH36311), 2003A new batching policy is proposed for providing true VoD services in multicast VoD systems. Instead of batching the user requests, we serve the new customer with a dedicated stream immediately and then try to merge the customers for the same movie in progress by doubling the transmission rate.

DONet-VoD: A hybrid overlay solution for efficient peer-to-peer video on demand services
2008 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2008The existing DONet-based approach uses successfully a random gossip algorithm for scalable live video streaming. This pure mesh overlay network-based solution may lead to unacceptable latency or even failure of VCR operations in video-on-demand (VoD) services where nodes usually have different playing offsets, across a wide range.

Applying Linux High-Availability and Load Balancing Servers for Video-on-Demand (VOD) Systems
2004In this research paper, we integrate and implement High-Availability (HA) and Load-Balancing technologies to clusters of workstations, increasing both the availability and scalability of services and resources in these systems. The cluster of workstations is commonly built and used as web-based VOD servers.
