Video Quality Experts Groups: Video Quality Experts Groups

open access: yes, 2012
The digital video and multimedia content distributed via telecommunication networks suffers from several types of distortion or degradation during the process of acquisition, compression, processing, transmission and reproduction. One of the key factors in the success of a multimedia system or service is to achieve an acceptable quality of ...

Video Quality Metrics

open access: yes, 2010
In this chapter, we introduced several aspects of video quality. We described the anatomy of the Human Visual System (HVS), discussing a number of phenomena of visual perception that are of particular relevance to video quality. We briefly introduced the main characteristics of modern digital video systems, focusing on the errors (artifacts) commonly ...

Compressed Video Quality

open access: yesInternational Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) Journal, 2018
The concept of video compression goes hand in hand with the switch from analogue to digital video technology that has taken place over the last 25 years. Video delivered to televisions, computers and smartphones typically arrives in a compressed form. The bandwidth and file size savings that compression provides are a significant benefit for consumer ...

Objective Video Quality Assessment for Stereoscopic Video

open access: yesJournal of Broadcast Engineering, 2009
Stereoscopic video delivers depth perception to users contrary to 2D video. Therefore, we need to develop a new video quality assessment model for stereoscopic video. In this paper, we propose a new method for objective assessment of stereoscopic video.

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Inferring Streaming Video Quality from Encrypted Traffic

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Measurement and Analysis of Computing Systems, 2019
Inferring the quality of streaming video applications is important for Internet service providers, but the fact that most video streams are encrypted makes it difficult to do so.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.
