The accuracy of YouTube videos on idiopathic granulomatous mastitis: A analysis of quality and reliability

open access: yesMedicine Science
Most people get health information online, but its quality and reliability are unclear. To assess the quality and reliability of YouTube videos about idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM). Two rheumatologists independently searched YouTube on January 4,

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Video Quality Sufficiency for Sustainable Video Streaming

open access: yes, 2023
With the effects of climate change globally manifesting, all sectors of the economy and society are aiming to reduce their carbon emissions. For the ICT sector the concept of sufficiency has been proposed as a paradigm to go beyond efficiency improvements towards an absolute reduction of carbon emissions.

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...
