Video signal processing LSI for home VCR

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1991
The authors describe newly developed LSIs (large-scale-integrated circuits) to be used to process video signals for VCRs. These LSIs, equipped with functions to process luminance and chrominance signals on a single chip, reduce VCR manufacturing costs, save valuable PCB (printed circuit board) area, enhance picture quality, and feature a multifunction ...

Baseband video processing and the transmission of HDTV signals

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 1991
The authors address the key concerns in the formulation of new HDTV (high-definition television) systems. The starting point is the derivation of basic definitions of resolution parameters of television systems. Having established the means of representing the static and dynamic resolution of a television system, the authors discuss baseband encoding ...

Signal processing for playing videos on electrophoretic displays

2012 IEEE 55th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2012
The electrophoretic display (EPD) has been popularly applied on electronic readers (E-Readers), but its response time is still a bottleneck such that none of commercial E-Readers can play videos on the EPD smoothly. In this paper, the detailed issues regarding the response time of the EPD are well addressed.

Video Signal Processing

2017
Watching video is the most popular way for people to enjoy multimedia contents. However, videos are required to be displayed at different rate because there are many different display devices nowadays. In this chapter, we introduce the background knowledge, applications, and technical details of current multirate video systems.

Video signal processing for HDTV receiver

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1990
A signal processor for HDTV (high-definition television) receivers is presented. The HDTV receiver utilizing this signal processor can receive not only the HDTV broadcasting service but also the NTSC standard; at the same time, the picture quality for the NTSC signal is improved.

Switched-current Video Signal Processing

1992 Proceedings of the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, 1992
The switched-current (SI) technique is ideally suited to mixed analogue/digital IC's implemented in standard digital VLSI CMOS processing. This chapter builds on previous chapters, developing the technique to enable engineering of video frequency signal processors.

Video signal processing and memory based features

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1991
A novel system architecture with analog YUV and HV interfaces is presented. The architecture allows easy implementation of memory-based features in highly specified TV sets. Integrated circuits and memory-based features which fit into this architecture are discussed. It is concluded that by defining adequate analog interfaces and by developing some new

A processor approach for video signal processing

1991 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 1991
The authors present a signal processor, that is designed as a basic cell for multiprocessor arrays. A high-instruction-rate, 12-b data width, and a RISC (reduced instruction set computer) cell architecture make the processor suitable for the requirements of video signal processing.

Low-power arithmetic for the processing of video signals

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 1998
In this paper, it is shown that power reduction of complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor integrated circuits (CMOS IC's) is possible by exploiting statistical properties of the input signals. The statistical properties of video signals are analyzed, and it is shown that a new low-power signed-digit representation and an offset representation can ...
