Decrease of excessive daytime sleepiness after shunt treatment for normal pressure hydrocephalus
Summary Sleepiness and apathy are often reported in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus. However, research on outcomes after shunt surgery has mainly focused on the classical triad symptoms, that is, gait, cognition, and bladder dysfunction. This study aimed to describe the effects of shunt treatment on excessive daytime sleepiness and whether ...

The Greenland–Scotland Ridge in a Changing Ocean: Time to Act?
ABSTRACT The Greenland–Scotland Ridge is a submarine mountain that rises up to 500 m below the sea surface and extends from the east coast of Greenland to the continental shelf of Iceland and across the Faroe Islands to Scotland. The ridge not only separates deeper ocean basins on either side, that is, the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans, but also ...

Belowground growth is the primary driver of radial oxygen loss from Typha angustifolia to sediment
Oxygen pool accompanying the growth of a new Typha angustifolia rhizome through anoxic sediment. Summary Wetland plants must supply oxygen to their rhizomes and roots to maintain aerobic respiration despite soil anoxia. Excess oxygen can diffuse into the environment, strongly affecting rhizosphere biogeochemistry.

Aim This study aimed to identify the resting‐state functional connectivity (rsFC) of insula subregions associated with nonspecific somatic symptoms in mood disorders and to examine whether these connections are state‐dependent. Methods In Phase 1, seed‐based rsFC analyses were performed using 12 insula subregions from the Brainnetome Atlas in patients ...

NemEu: European Database on Nematode Communities at Genus or Family Level
ABSTRACT Motivation Soil communities are highly diverse. Due to a lack of spatially attributed data, our understanding of the geographical distribution of soil biodiversity across Europe and the factors driving this distribution remains limited. The NemEu database aims to fill this gap by providing nematode community data at genus or family level ...
