Difluoromethylenation of Alkynes: Streamlined Access to Allyl Difluorides

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Stabilizing primary oxocarbenium in HF/pyridine unlocks a direct alkyne difluoromethylenation – an efficient route to synthetically‐relevant allyl difluorides in a single step. ABSTRACT A direct difluoromethylenation of alkynes has been developed using HF/pyridine as a dual acidic and fluorinating medium. The reaction proceeds via in situ generation of

Covalent Organic Framework Colloids With Core‐Shell Donor/Acceptor Architecture and Ultralong‐Lived Charge‐Separated States

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Uniform core‐shell colloidal particles of Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) are synthesized by a seeded growth of electron‐acceptor COF shells on electron‐donor COF cores. The resulting p‐n heterojunction enables efficient separation of photogenerated charges, which persist for minutes. These core‐shell COFs show efficient CO2 photoreduction to CO and

Gold Single‐Atom Catalysts Enable Selective Shuttle Hydrochlorination of Alkynes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Gold single‐atom catalysts on activated carbon enable heterogeneous shuttle hydrochlorination of terminal alkynes to vinyl chlorides with high chemo‐ and stereo‐selectivity thanks to cooperation between Au(I) sites and the support. The catalytic system combines broad substrate compatibility, simplified separation, and recoverability, paving the way for

Aza‐Büchner–Curtius–Schlotterbeck Reaction Enables Selective Construction of Quaternary Carbon Centers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We introduce the Aza‐Büchner–Curtius–Schlotterbeck (ABCS) reaction: A mild, catalyst‐free method for homologating aryl imines. Diverging from the traditional BCS mechanism, the diazo intermediate undergoes selective C─C insertion to form an all‐carbon quaternary center.
