View maintenance after view synchronization

Proceedings. IDEAS'99. International Database Engineering and Applications Symposium (Cat. No.PR00265), 2003
While current view technology assumes that information systems (ISs) do not change their schemas, our Evolvable View Environment (EVE) project addresses this problem by evolving the view definitions affected by IS schema changes, which we call view synchronization. In EVE, the view synchronizer rewrites the view definitions by replacing view components

A Configuration Space View of View Planning

2006 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2006
For sensor-based robot motion planning, view planning problem refers to planning the next sensing action to further facilitate the motion planning task. In Y. Yu and K. Gupta (2004), C-space entropy was introduced as a measure of knowledge of robot configuration space, or C-space. The robot plans the next sensing action to maximally reduce the expected

View merging in the context of view selection

Proceedings International Database Engineering and Applications Symposium, 2003
Materialized views can provide massive improvements in query processing time, especially for aggregation queries over large tables. To achieve the potential of materialized views, we must determine what views to materialize. An important issue in view selection is view merging.

Views on the Patient’s View

1993
There has been a growing acceptance over the last few years that health care, like other human services, should be subject to evaluation. It has been suggested this should not only involve measuring medical outcomes, or economic efficiency, but also whether services are socially acceptable.1 It is this latter aspect, together with the experience of ...

Two Views of a View of a View of the Good

Abstract A survey of the reception of Aristotle’s arguments against Plato’s Form of the Good reveals a truly striking disarray: some critics take Aristotle to be wholly successful, believing that he has simply refuted Plato’s approach; others, equally distinguished, find his arguments jejune, hopeless, and almost incredibly bad.

Stereoscopic View Synthesis by View Morphing

2008
We propose a novel approach to generate an arbitrary in-between stereoscopic view from a wide-baseline stereo camera using view morphing. Conventionally, a stereoscopic view for a real scene has been generated by a stereo camera which simulats the human eye configuration with approximately 65mm horizontal separation.

Multi-view learning with dependent views

Proceedings of the 30th Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, 2015
Multi-view algorithms, such as co-training and co-EM, utilize unlabeled data when the available attributes can be split into independent and compatible subsets. Experiments have shown that multi-view learning is sometimes beneficial for problems for which the independence assumption is not satisfied.
