Abstract Positron emission tomography with x‐ray computed tomography (PET/CT) is increasingly being utilized for radiation treatment planning (RTP). Accurate delivery of RT therefore depends on quality PET/CT data. This study covers quality control (QC) procedures required for PET/CT for diagnostic imaging and incremental QC required for RTP.

Treatment of rice seeds with salicylic acid: seed physiological quality and yield
Seed treatment with growth regulators, especially salicylic acid, is a promising alternative to the seed industry because it is an important inducer of resistance to diseases and pests, as well as acting significantly on quality and seed yield.

Situationally Aware Options [PDF]
Hierarchical abstractions, also known as options -- a type of temporally extended action (Sutton et. al. 1999) that enables a reinforcement learning agent to plan at a higher level, abstracting away from the lower-level details. In this work, we learn reusable options whose parameters can vary, encouraging different behaviors, based on the current ...

Locomotion is a complex motor task generated by spinal circuits driving motoneurons in a precise sequence to control the timing and vigor of movements, but the underlying circuit logic remains to be understood. Here we reveal, in adult zebrafish, how the

Uniqueness of radiomic features in non‐small cell lung cancer
Abstract Purpose The uniqueness of radiomic features, combined with their reproducibility, determines the reliability of radiomic studies. This study is to test the hypothesis that radiomic features extracted from a defined region of interest (ROI) are unique to the underlying structure (e.g., tumor). Approach Two cohorts of non‐small cell lung cancer (

The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...

A small footprint couch‐top support device for image‐guided radiotherapy of heavy patients
Abstract Purpose Patients with body weights close to or above 400 lbs present unique challenges in radiation therapy since the weight limit of most treatment couches decreases as the couch‐top extends toward the treatment gantry. The purpose of this work was to develop a small footprint couch‐top support platform to safely perform image‐guided ...
