Mapping Daily Evapotranspiration at Field Scale Using the Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 Dataset, with Sharpened VIIRS as a Sentinel-2 Thermal Proxy

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Accurate and frequent monitoring of evapotranspiration (ET) at sub-field scales can provide valuable information for agricultural water management, quantifying crop water use and stress toward the goal of increasing crop water use efficiency and ...

Quantifying uncertainties in nighttime light retrievals from Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20 VIIRS Day/Night Band data

open access: yes, 2021
Satellite observations of nighttime lights (NTL) from Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20 VIIRS Day/Night Band data have been widely used to estimate human activities. Long-term changes such as urban development and abrupt short-term changes such as power outages have

Improving the spatiotemporal resolution of remotely sensed ET information for water management through Landsat, Sentinel-2, ECOSTRESS and VIIRS data fusion

open access: yesIrrigation science, 2022
Robust information on consumptive water use (evapotranspiration, ET) derived from remote sensing can significantly benefit water decision-making in agriculture, informing irrigation schedules and water management plans over extended regions.

Inflammatory Shift in Chronic Rhinosinusitis Amidst Guangzhou's Urbanization (2000–2018)

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) exhibits temporal and geographic diversity in pathological endotypes with progressive eosinophilic infiltration, while the underlying causes remain unclear. Current pathological endotypes determination relies on mean cell count per high‐power field, requiring accuracy optimization.

Subnational Border Reforms and Economic Activity in Africa

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using GIS methods, we identify territories in Africa affected by subnational border reforms between 1992 and 2013. Descriptive statistics reveal that these territories differed from other African regions across several key dimensions. For example, these territories were more populous and exhibited greater ethnic diversity.

VIIRS Nightfire Remote Sensing Volcanoes

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2017
Abstract Satellite based remote sensing of active volcanoes has been performed in various forms since 1965. Compared to “on the ground” observations it lets data to be gathered globally at regular pace for long periods of time without the need for local maintenance.

JPSS VIIRS SST Reanalysis Version 3

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The 3rd full-mission reanalysis (RAN3) of global sea surface temperature (SST) with a 750 m resolution at nadir is available from VIIRS instruments flown onboard two JPSS satellites: NPP (February 2012–present) and N20 (January 2018–present). Two SSTs, ‘subskin’ (sensitive to skin SST) and ‘depth’ (proxy for in situ SST at depth of 20 cm), were ...
