Hydrolysis of peptides by Crotalidae and Viperidae venoms
Toxicon, 1968Abstract Peptidase activities of nine Viperidae and thirteen Crotalidae venoms were investigated using twenty-nine dipeptides, six tripeptides, and one tetrapeptide. Only five peptides were not hydrolyzed by any of the snake venoms investigated. Relatively few differences in substrate specificities were found for snake venoms regardless of species ...

Viperidae Zehirli Isırıkları Tedavi Yönetimi
2015Snake bite poisoning is a serious health problem and can be seen all over the world. The Viperidae family is responsible for the majority of venomous snake bite cases in Anatolia. Heterochromosomen beiVipera berus L. (Viperidae, Serpentes)
Experientia, 1962A dimorphic pair of chromosomes was found among the macrochromosomes in mitosis of females ofVipera berus L. It corresponds to a pair of medium-sized chromosomes in the male. The conclusion is drawn that females are heterogametic (ZW-type), males being homogametic (ZZ-type).

Mitochondrial genome ofProtobothrops cornutus(Squamata: Viperidae: Crotalinae)
Mitochondrial DNA, 2013Protobothrops cornutus is the endangered snake which is distributed narrowly in southern China and other adjacent countries of Asia. We determined the complete mitochondrial genome of P. cornutus (HB-pc20090810). The circle genome with the 17,219 bp total length contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 2 ...

Viperidae Envenomation in India
2014The estimated incidence of venomous snakebites in India is around 300,000 annually and the overall mortality is between 30,000 and 50,000. The majority of this is due to Viperidae envenomation. There is a lack of consensus regarding the management protocol. The symptoms, signs, diagnosis, and management of Viperidae envenomation are discussed.
