The effects of viral immune evasion proteins can occur outside host cells, in the case of chemokines, cytokines, or cell surface receptors, or inside cells, in the case of signal transduction and antigen presentation pathways. This chapter attempts to summarize examples of viral immune evasion strategies, especially the facets of the immune system ...

Viruses, perhaps the simplest known form of life, cause a range of infections that vary from inapparent to life threatening. The prevention of acquisition and spread of many viral infections, with their attendant clinical, ethical, and legal implications, have become the responsibility of obstetricians and gynecologists.1 ...

Viral Immunity and Persistence
2011Viruses survive and propagate in human populations, despite the anti-viral immune response. Viruses have developed two principal mechanisms in order to persist within populations. Some viruses, such as measles, are highly infectious and quickly spread through susceptible populations. However measles is rapidly cleared by the immune response.

Viral immunity. Transkingdom control of viral infection and immunity in the mammalian intestine.
Science (New York, N.Y.), 2016Viruses that infect the intestine include major human pathogens (retroviruses, noroviruses, rotaviruses, astroviruses, picornaviruses, adenoviruses, herpesviruses) that constitute a serious public health problem worldwide. These viral pathogens are members of a large, complex viral community inhabiting the intestine termed "the enteric virome." Enteric
