Changing how the third 95 is counted: suitable indicators for measuring U = U with findings from Taiwan

open access: yesAIDS Research and Therapy
Introduction The World Health Organisation has implemented multiple HIV prevention policies and strived to achieve the 90-90-90 goal by 2020, achieving the 95-95-95 goal by 2030, which refers to 95% of patients living with HIV knowing their HIV status ...

Determination of HCV genotypes and viral loads in chronic HCV infected patients of Hazara Pakistan

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2011
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) genotype and viral load are two significant predictive variables knowledge of which might persuade treatment decisions. The objective of the present study was to identify the distribution of different HCV genotypes circulating in ...

Significance of the viral load of high-risk HPV in the diagnosis and prediction of cervical lesions: a retrospective study

open access: yesBMC Women's Health, 2021
Background The significance of HPV viral load in the detection of cervical lesions is still controversial. This study analyzed the correlation between the high-risk HPV viral load and different cervical lesion degrees.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

CD4 cell count and the risk of AIDS or death in HIV-Infected adults on combination antiretroviral therapy with a suppressed viral load: a longitudinal cohort study from COHERE. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Most adults infected with HIV achieve viral suppression within a year of starting combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). It is important to understand the risk of AIDS events or death for patients with a suppressed viral load.

Factors contributing to salivary human immunodeficiency virus type-1 levels measured by a Poisson distribution-based PCR method

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2018
Objective To elucidate the mechanism underlying secretion of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) into the oral cavity, by examining the relationships between various oral and systemic factors and the viral load in saliva.

Is Higher Viral Load in SARS-CoV-2 Associated with Death?

open access: yesmedRxiv, 2020
There is no proven prognostic marker or adequate number of studies in patients hospitalized for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19). We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients hospitalized with COVID19 from March 14 to June 17, 2020, at Sao ...

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.
