Drug resistance outcomes of long-term ART with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate in the absence of virological monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives: The resistance profiles of patients receiving long-term ART in sub-Saharan Africa have been poorly described. This study obtained a sensitive assessment of the resistance patterns associated with long-term tenofovir-based ART in a ...

Fecal Viral Load and Norovirus-associated Gastroenteritis

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2006
We report the median cDNA viral load of norovirus genogroup II is >100-fold higher than that of genogroup I in the fecal specimens of patients with norovirus-associated gastroenteritis. We speculate that increased cDNA viral load accounts for the higher transmissibility of genogroup II strains through the fecal-oral route.

Single genome sequencing of near full-length HIV-1 RNA using a limiting dilution approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sequencing very long stretches of the HIV-1 genome can advance studies on virus evolution and in vivo recombination but remains technically challenging.

Bias in the estimation of cumulative viremia in cohort studies of HIV-infected individuals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Purpose: The use of cumulative measures of exposure to raised HIV viral load (viremia copy-years) is an increasingly common in HIV prevention and treatment epidemiology due to the high biological plausibility. We sought to estimate the magnitude and direction of bias in a cumulative measure of viremia caused by different frequency of sampling and ...
