Virescence of Papaver rhoeas: a new phytoplasma disease

A formerly undescribed, phytoplasma-induced virescence disease of corn poppy (Papaver rhoeas) was observed in several agricultural areas of southern Italy. The disease is caused by a uniform phytoplasma that was identified to be a member of the aster yellows strain cluster.
