The Ongoing Growth of the M87 Halo through Accretion Events
Planetary nebulas (PNs) offer a unique tool to investigate the outer regions of massive galaxies because their strong [OIII]λ5007Å emission line makes them detectable out to several effective radii from the galaxy’s centre.

LARGE-SCALE FILAMENTARY STRUCTURES AROUND THE VIRGO CLUSTER REVISITED [PDF]
We revisit the filamentary structures of galaxies around the Virgo cluster, exploiting a larger data set, based on the HyperLeda database, than previous studies.

Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxies in the Virgo Cluster [PDF]
We present a study of the smallest and faintest galaxies found in a very deep photographic R band survey of regions of the Virgo Cluster, totalling over 3 square degrees, made with the UK Schmidt Telescope. The objects we detect have the same physical sizes and surface brightnesses as Local Group dwarf spheroidal galaxies.

VICTORIA project: The LOFAR HBA Virgo Cluster Survey
Context. The Virgo cluster is the nearest (d = 16.5 Mpc) massive (M ≥ 1014 M⊙) galaxy cluster and is therefore a prime target for studying astrophysical processes in dense large-scale environments. In the radio band, we can probe the nonthermal components of the interstellar medium, the intracluster medium (ICM), and of active galactic nuclei (AGN ...

CD168 Identifies Proliferating Pancreatic Islet Cells in Murine and Human
This study identifies CD168 as a conserved surface marker for proliferating β‐cells in mouse, human islets, and pancreatic islet tumors. CD168⁺ cells show high proliferation and low insulin expression. CD168+ cells form mostly uni‐β lineage clones, and some of the clones are multi‐lineage.

The Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS). XXIV. The Red Sequence to ∼106 L⊙ and Comparisons with Galaxy Formation Models [PDF]
We use deep optical photometry from the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS) to investigate the color–magnitude diagram for the galaxies inhabiting the core of this cluster.

This review summarizes green and low‐carbon strategies throughout the entire life cycle of polyester plastics, including sustainable monomer synthesis, optimization polymerization, efficient recycling, and advanced upcycling technologies. The synergistic implementation of these strategies is expected to significantly promote the development of a ...

Conceptualizing Circular Ecosystems: An Analysis of 45 Definitions
ABSTRACT The circular ecosystem concept is gaining prominence among academics and practitioners. However, critics claim the concept is used and understood differently by different actors. While conceptual plurality offers possibilities for broad interpretations and engagement, it can undermine the relevance of the concept as an analytical lens due to ...

The Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey. XVII. A Search for Planetary Nebulae in Virgo Cluster Globular Clusters [PDF]
Abstract The occurrence of planetary nebulae (PNe) in globular clusters (GCs) provides an excellent chance to study low-mass stellar evolution in a special (low-metallicity, high stellar density) environment. We report a systematic spectroscopic survey for the [O iii] 5007 Å emission line of PNe in 1469 Virgo GCs and 121 Virgo ultra ...

ABSTRACT The smartphone industry faces sustainability challenges from greenhouse gas emissions and resource depletion to growing e‐waste volumes. Circular business models have been proposed as a pathway to address these issues, yet their adoption remains limited, lacking integrative assessment frameworks that connect environmental performance with ...
