Recovering the Internal Dynamics and the Shapes of Galaxy Clusters: Virgo Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We describe a method for recovering of the substructure, internal dynamics and geometrical shapes of clusters of galaxies. Applying the method to the Virgo cluster, we, first, reveal the substructure of the central 4 arc degree field of the Virgo cluster

THE NEXT GENERATION VIRGO CLUSTER SURVEY. VII. THE INTRINSIC SHAPES OF LOW-LUMINOSITY GALAXIES IN THE CORE OF THE VIRGO CLUSTER, AND A COMPARISON WITH THE LOCAL GROUP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate the intrinsic shapes of low-luminosity galaxies in the central 300 kpc of the Virgo Cluster using deep imaging obtained as part of the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS).

Ram pressure stripping in the Virgo Cluster [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2015
Gas can be violently stripped from their galaxy disks in rich clusters, and be dispersed over 100kpc-scale tails or plumes. Young stars have been observed in these tails, suggesting they are formed in situ. This will contribute to the intracluster light, in addition to tidal stripping of old stars.

An Integrative Model for Resilience Through Circular Business Models: Insights Using a Multilevel Perspective

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how circular business models (CBMs) can lead to resilience. Despite the increasing number of CBM studies, they have not fully addressed the need for resilience. As such, we employ a multilevel perspective to reveal the existing and potential relationships between CBMs and resilience under the sustainability umbrella.

The Globular Cluster System of the Virgo Cluster Ultradiffuse Galaxy VCC 615

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We use Hubble Space Telescope imaging to study the globular cluster system of the Virgo Cluster ultradiffuse galaxy (UDG) VCC 615. We select globular cluster candidates through a combination of size and color, while simultaneously rejecting contamination

Exploring the Impact of Circular Economy Practices on Corporate Performance: A Global Analysis

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how the adoption of circular economy practices influences the financial performance of companies in the Food and Health Products sector, a strategically important industry for health, nutrition, and sustainability. Using panel data regression models applied to an international sample of 1081 listed firms over the period

HIGH LATITUDE GAMMA RAYS ASSOCIATED WITH VIRGO [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 1997
A more detailed analysis is made of the energy spectrum of the diffuse component of extragalactic gamma rays over the range of 0.3- 10 GeV, obtained fromthe EGRET instrument at the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. The derived excess energy spectrum of high

Deep Galaxy Stellar Mass Functions As a Function of Star Formation Rate in the Virgo Cluster Environment

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We analyze deep ( M _* ≳ 10 ^7 M _⊙ ) galaxy stellar mass functions (SMFs) of the Virgo cluster using stellar masses derived as part of the Next Generation Virgo Survey. The total SMF has a slope of $\alpha =-1.3{5}_{-0.02}^{+0.02}$ , which is similar to

Study of Wide-Field-of-View X-ray Observations of the Virgo Cluster Using the Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy

open access: yesUniverse
The Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy (LEIA) is the pathfinder of the wide-field X-ray telescope used in the Einstein Probe mission. In this study, we present an image of the Virgo Cluster taken by LEIA in the 0.5–4.5 keV band with an exposure time of ∼17.

Intracluster stellar population properties from N-body cosmological simulations -- I. Constraints at $z=0$

open access: yes, 2003
We use a high resolution collisionless simulation of a Virgo--like cluster in a $\Lambda$CDM cosmology to determine the velocity and clustering properties of the diffuse stellar component in the intracluster region at the present epoch.
