Virtual colonoscopy (VC) is a non-invasive screening tool for colorectal polyps which employs volume visualization of a colon model reconstructed from a CT scan of the patient's abdomen. We present an immersive analytics system for VC which enhances and improves the traditional desktop VC through the use of VR technologies.

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 1997
A new method for colon examination, virtual colonoscopy, has been created by combining spiral computed tomography and virtual reality computer technology. If virtual colonoscopy proves equal to or superior to traditional colonoscopy in sensitivity and specificity for cancer screening, it would yield significant clinical and public health benefits ...

Imaging Decisions MRI, 2007
SummaryVirtual colonoscopy (VC) is an emerging technique for colorectal polyp detection in a normalārisk screening population, in patients who have undergone incomplete colonoscopy, or patients who cannot undergo optical colonoscopy. Improvements in technology since VC's description over a decade ago have improved sensitivity for polyp detection.

Virtual Colonoscopy: An Overview
Oncology Research and Treatment, 2006Virtual colonoscopy is emerging as a technique for the detection of tumor lesions in the colon. Being a patient-friendly examination, virtual colonoscopy could play an important role in colorectal cancer screening. This article reviews the current state of the art of virtual colonoscopy with future developments and issues to be resolved.

Correlation Between Intraoperative Colonoscopy and Virtual Colonoscopy
Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 2008f s v s w a s t p c 6 63-year-old woman with a history of colon polyps and ersistently heme-positive stools underwent a colonoscopy at nother institution. The colonoscope could not traverse the plenic flexure of the colon because of sigmoid tortuosity. The atient then had CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy), hich revealed a fold in the cecum (A).

Virtual colonoscopy: clinical application
European Radiology Supplements, 2005Virtual colonoscopy (VC), also known as computed tomography Colonography (CTC), is a non-invasive test for the examination of the colon based on volumetric, thin-collimation CT acquisition of a cleansed and air-distended colon. The technique is easy, less labour-intensive than barium enema and conventional colonoscopy, and is inherently safer.

Virtual colonoscopy: Clinical results
Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2001CT colonography is an evolving noninvasive imaging technique that allows detection of colorectal polyps and cancers. When assessing the clinical results of this test, several points need to be emphasized. First, as computed tomography (CT) technology improves, so will clinical results.
