Multi‐Scale Modeling of a 3D Soft Magnetoelectric Patch for Wireless Nerve Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Core‐shell, magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) can serve as wireless electric nano‐sources, thanks to their ability to generate high levels of electricity, when stimulated by a human‐safe external magnetic field. By combining MENPs with soft, biocompatible polymeric matrices and optimizing its composite configuration and electrical behavior via ...

Advanced Water Production via Point of Use Super‐Ultralow‐Pressure Reverse Osmosis and Cellulose‐Polyamide Thin‐Film Nanocomposite Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Revolutionizing water filtration: a cellulose‐based membrane delivers twice as much clean water as commercial systems at super‐ultralow pressure (0.2 MPa). The expanded interfacial polymerization enhances the “leaf‐like” PA/CM‐CNF skeleton structure and fully covers the polysulfone (PS) layer, improving diffusion and water production.

Cumulus cloud modeling from images based on VAE-GAN

open access: yesVirtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware, 2021
Background: Cumulus clouds are important elements in creating virtual outdoor scenes. Modeling cumulus clouds that have a specific shape is difficult owing to the fluid nature of the cloud.

Virtual Gravity and the Duality of Reality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
It is shown that a hypothesis about gravity having a virtual cause implies there are two primary reference frames, a reality and a functional virtual reality and an equivalence principle relating the two is postulated.

Biomechanical and Displacement‐Related Considerations in the Design of a 3D‐Printed Composite Energy‐Storage‐and‐Return Prosthetic Foot

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
For the first time, Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced 3D printing is used to fabricate a foot prosthesis, exploring the flexibility in the design space granted by additive manufacturing, evaluating computationally and experimentally the effect of different design features on the mechanical and biomechanical response of the material, to locally tune the ...

Lightweight and High‐Performance Ankle Braces Enabled by 3D Printed Metamaterial Liquid Crystal Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible, lightweight ankle brace made from 3D‐printed liquid crystal polymer metamaterials offers targeted support without restricting movement. Programmable stiffness provides protection during risky motions. Biomechanical tests suggest performance comparable to commercial braces with reduced bulk, highlighting potential for broader orthotic ...

Consistency Preserved Nonuniform Scattering Removal for Wide-Swath Remote Sensing Images

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Removal of haze and thin clouds in remote sensing images has been extensively studied, leading to the development of effective methods. However, when applied to wide-swath images, conventional dehazing approaches often generate patch-level ...

Enabling collaboration in virtual reality navigators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we characterize a feature superset for Collaborative Virtual Reality Environments (CVRE), and derive a component framework to transform stand-alone VR navigators into full-fledged multithreaded collaborative environments.
