Damping Provision by Different Virtual Synchronous Machine Schemes

open access: yes, 2020
The adoption of virtual synchronous machine (VSM) schemes for the control of power converters is gaining more and more attention both in academia and industry. The VSM control strategies fall into the category of grid-forming converter controls, and they

Beyond Broca and Wernicke: Epilepsy surgery in the language areas

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Epilepsy surgery in language areas is challenged by the intricacies of presurgical workup and surgical planning. In recent decades, the view of language‐related circuitry has shifted from being localized in a few cortical centers to a distributed, dynamically interconnected system, increasing complexity.

Improved MPC-Based Adaptive Virtual Synchronous Machine for a High-Power MMC Terminal

open access: yesIEEE Access
The increase in grid-connected renewable energy sources (RES), particularly wind and solar plants, has transformed the dynamic properties of power systems. The progressive replacement of synchronous machines by generation based on power converters (which

Impedance Estimation for Transient Stability Enhancement of Virtual Synchronous Machines

open access: yes2024 IEEE 15th International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG)
In this paper, a passive technique for estimating the impedance and voltage of a Thévenin grid is presented. The method can be applied when either the maximum active power or minimum reactive power operating point, with respect to the power angle, is crossed. This work addresses transient events, for which the former occurs.

Artificial intelligence in preclinical epilepsy research: Current state, potential, and challenges

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Preclinical translational epilepsy research uses animal models to better understand the mechanisms underlying epilepsy and its comorbidities, as well as to analyze and develop potential treatments that may mitigate this neurological disorder and its associated conditions. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool across
