Automated Imaging of Cultured Bacteria in Picoliter Droplets by Coherent Anti‐Stokes Raman Scattering and Two‐Photon Excited Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 57, Issue 6, Page 1071-1080, June 2026.
We present an automated system that combines an image‐based fuzzy logic controller for precise positioning of microfluidic picoliter droplets with nonlinear microscopy, using CARS and TPEF modalities for detailed analysis of droplet composition. Time series and z‐stack images of E. coli, B. subtilis, and M. arborescens were recorded.

Analysis and Mitigation of Low-Frequency Interactions Between the Source and Load Virtual Synchronous Machine in an Islanded Microgrid

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2022
Source-side virtual synchronous machines (VSGs) and load-side VSMs (LVSM) are gradually utilized together in the microgrid to provide virtual inertia and damping.

Virtual synchronous machine

2007 9th International Conference on Electrical Power Quality and Utilisation, 2007
Demands in the area of electrical energy generation and distribution, as a result of energy policies, are leading to far reaching changes in the structure of the energy supply, which is characterised, on the one hand, by the substitution of conventional power stations by renewable energy generation, a decision which has already been made, and, on the ...

Design of Hybrid-Storage-Based Virtual Synchronous Machine With Energy Recovery Control Considering Energy Consumed in Inertial and Damping Support

IEEE transactions on power electronics, 2022
The reduced inertia in power system introduces more operation risks and challenges due to the degraded frequency performance. The existing virtual inertia control and fast frequency response to tackle this issue are restricted by the energy resource ...

A Single Stage Virtual Synchronous Machine

2019 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2019
Virtual Synchronous Machines (VSM) are proposed to support a power grid with high penetration of inverter-based distribution generation (DG) units. When the number of inverters connected to a grid increases, grid lacks the inertia that conventionally is introduced by the synchronous machine (SM). Therefore, VSMs are proposed to virtually introduce such

Optimal Control for Improved Damping of Virtual Synchronous Machines

2020 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2020
The fraction of generation from power electronics driven Distributed Energy resources (DERs) is increasing. Therefore, DERs must also take up functionalities, such as inertia provision and oscillation damping, traditionally offered by synchronous generators (SG).

Enhanced Operation of a Virtual Synchronous Machine Under Unbalanced Grid Voltage Condition Based on Lyapunov Energy Function

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, 2023
Three-phase grid connected inverters integrated with renewable energy sources like photovoltaic systems require to provide inertia to damp out oscillations in the frequency.

LQR-Based Adaptive Virtual Synchronous Machine for Power Systems With High Inverter Penetration

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, 2019
This paper presents a novel virtual synchronous machine controller for converters in power systems with a high share of renewable resources. Using a linear quadratic regulator-based optimization technique, the optimal state feedback gain is determined to
