Universality near zero virtuality

open access: yes, 1996
In this paper we study a random matrix model with the chiral and flavor structure of the QCD Dirac operator and a temperature dependence given by the lowest Matsubara frequency. Using the supersymmetric method for random matrix theory, we obtain an exact,

Cycles of Dispositions–Unfoldings. A Retro-ANT View of Practices

open access: yesSociologica, 2019
The present contribution intends to probe a view of practices as cycles of disposition and unfoldings or, which is the same, of virtualities and actualizations, and to show how such view allows not only to take artifacts into account, but also to account

Dead cone due to parton virtuality

open access: yes, 2012
A general expression for the dead cone of gluons radiated by virtual partons has been derived. The conventional dead cone for massive on-shell quarks and the dead cone for the massless virtual partons have been obtained by using different limits of the ...

QCD Effects in the Decays of TeV Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In models with ``large'' and/or warped extra dimensions, the higher-dimensional Planck scale may be as low as a TeV. In that case black holes with masses of a few TeV are expected to be produced copiously in multi-TeV collisions, in particular at the LHC.

Virtual Actuators with Virtual Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, 2005
The virtual actuator approach to bond graph based control is extended to use virtual sensor inputs; this allows relative degree conditions on the controller to be relaxed. Furthermore, the effect of the transfer system can be eliminated from the closed-loop system. Illustrative examples are given.

Soft Photoproduction Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Several topics of interest in soft photoproduction physics are discussed. These include jet universality issues (particle flavour composition), the subdivision into event classes, the buildup of the total photoproduction cross section and the effects of ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Nonzero Mean Squared Momentum of Quarks in the Non-Perturbative QCD Vacuum

open access: yes, 2010
The non-local vacuum condensates of QCD describe the distributions of quarks and gluons in the non-perturbative QCD vacuum. Physically, this means that vacuum quarks and gluons have nonzero mean-squared momentum, called virtuality. In this paper we study

QCD evolution and skewedness effects in color dipole description of DVCS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We show the role played by QCD evolution and skewedness effects in the DVCS cross section at large $Q^2$ within the color dipole description of the process at photon level.
