Caprine Bluetongue Virus Isolations
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1980SUMMARY Viral isolation procedures demonstrated the presence of bluetongue virus serotypes 10, 11, and 17 in routine caprine accessions. The goats in this report showed one or more of the following signs or lesions: weakness, pulmonary disease, abortion, fetuses with developmental abnormalities, kerato-conjunctivitis, anemia, and swollen joints.

Nature, 1970LASSA fever as it was first noticed early in 1969 in three missionary nurses in Nigeria will be described by Frame et al.1. The disease later affected two laboratory workers at the Yale Arbovirus Research Unit (YARU) in New Haven. Two of the nurses and one of the laboratory workers died.

It was filterable through a gradocol membrane of 320 mμ. A.P.D. and was sensitive to ether and to heating at 56°C. for 30 minutes.Macroscopic signs of infection in Q.I.M.R. mice were splenomegaly, hepatomegaly and lymphadenopathy.
